Edit: I am so tempted to get this. This is sooo convenient.
*wonders if there any more room in my luggage!*

Apparently, Amanda didn’t inherit my good appetite (or greedy genes)!

Bottled Applesauce puree
Are we READY?

She isn’t liking solid food as much as I thought she would be.
When she was just about 3 months old, she showed interest during our meal time.
Observing us putting food into our mouth and chomping.
And she loves to gnaw on my after-meal apple for juices since then too…

I wouldn’t say that she loves bottled baby puree but she didn’t resist taking baby puree and juices at around 4 months old.
Her tummy couldn’t quite take the juices as she was vomiting some milk… and that’s when I decided stop both the puree and the juice.
I now regretted for not persisting on the puree. It would at least prepare her for more solids and tastes that’s coming her way!

So when Amanda turned 6 months old, I decided to start on homemade puree.

Amanda's solid
The process of grinding and straining reminded me of the game “Cooking Mama”… :p

She was “OK” with the carrots the first time… but soon became frustrated with the next session.
Hates the banana I offered, too lumpy perhaps!
She just didn’t like solids, would gag by the 3rd mouthful and then cry when offered the 5th mouthful…
It was the same with Baby cereal too…

I was discouraged and haven’t been consistent in trying.
Therefore, I am starting with the bottled baby puree again, they have finer texture than my homemade puree, more variety in taste and probably taste better too.
I hope this will eventually prepare her for the homemade puree and porridge.

On a positive note, Amanda loves the Gerber Applesauce puree I just offered her! Taste good!
She was eager and hurrying me for her next mouth!

Bottled Applesauce puree
MORE! MORE! MORE!

Like getting her to drink from bottle, This time, I am determined to see that she accepts solids soon.

On the topic, food, (Amanda’s solid is food too! Right?) I would like to share a picture of my Mom’s home-cook.
Hee!

Homecooked in Singapore!
Soup (full of flavour!), Veggie fried with chili and fermented bean curd,
pork-liver (haven’t had them for a long time!) and steamed fresh fish!!!

I ate most of the fish and pork liver. And loves loves loves the 老火汤!
Yummmy!!!
Did I not tell you that I‘m greedy?

I can come up with many reasons why I do not want to return to China.
Family. Friends. Shopping.
And especially for Amanda, she is having so much fun here.
In China, the only exciting place she goes to is supermarket after being bundled up in thick winter wear.

She gets a lot of attention from the many 爷爷 奶奶 (Dp’s relatives) in China.
But nothing beats the love from her very own grandparents and the JOY on my parents face.
Growing up, I gave them nothing but headaches, Amanda is one of my best gift to them, for now.

Mum is busier. On top of household stuffs she does everyday, there’s bottles to sterilize and more clothes to wash.
Mum sometimes bathes Amanda, alone.
She enjoys being very busy. And is just like one of the many grandparents out there, who thinks that their grandchild is very smart…

Dad wants to see and carry Amanda in the morning before he goes to work! And is always more than happy to carry and play with her when Mum and I are busy.
And thanks to Amanda, Dad now sends us to place and fetches us home, whenever I am out with her.
Amanda adores grandpa from the very day we returned and is getting friendly with grandma too!

Ashley returns from work late, she’s always disappointed each time I tell her, Amanda’s asleep!
And Andrew is the gentleman, who politely seeks Amanda’s permission before carrying her.
And they are a great help whenever they are Home on weekends.

Friends adore Amanda.
Going out with baby isn’t easy. But they are always happy to accommodate and help.

I am also happy that Anita flew to Singapore just to see Amanda.

IMG_7676

I no longer travel regularly to HK like I used to.
Besides, she prefers coming to Singapore to see us, than to the-boring-part-of China, where we are.

Shopping. I can’t fit into free-size clothing like I used too. And have to mess with measuring tape, trying to figure out if I can squeeze myself in those dresses, tops and bottoms, found on UNIQLO online.

Clothes in YC are either awful or awfully expensive.
I am liking Forever21 stuff at 313@Somerset. I have been to their other outlets but have never liked to shop there because it too messy! But the flagship store is neat! More importantly, I can fit into their size L.
Compared to Yuncheng’s standards… the F21 clothes are extremely-trendy and cheap.
Will make it a point to check it out twice every week before I return.
Stocking up for the coming summer. And Amanda’s too!
Nothing from my summer wardrobe fits anymore. Except for the maternity ones. :p

I can ONLY name TWO reasons for returning to China.

DP. Is awfully lonely. Daddy miss Amanda and Amanda miss Daddy.
We had a web-cam chat last night.
Amanda was happy (at first) and reached out to touch Daddy on screen. She was puzzled and disappointed when she couldn’t touch Daddy.
It broke my heart.
And I could tell she wasn’t happy afterwards. But kept staring at the screen for Daddy anyway.
There were times that I have been away from him for a month and more.
But this time, I could almost hear him begging for us, not to change our return flight Home!

And the weather in China. Singapore’s too hot.
Amanda and I, we don’t take heat very well. Amanda gets hot very easily.
Besides, Spring & Autumn are my favorite season in China and are not to be missed.

Few more meet-ups. And errands to run. Before we head Home. The HOME in China.

PS: Amanda went to the PD for her Hep B vaccination today. She is now 8.7kg and 71cm.
And she just cried when I took stuff away from her. I am not giving in. Boo!

My Favorite photo on 4th March.

kissing@tea

The day Amanda turned 6 months old… She had her first high tea at Goodwood Park Hotel.

Amanda's first high-tea...

She was very cooperative. Her naps and schedule was disrupted but she wasn’t too fussy!
Because Auntie Sharlotte and *a-hem* Sharon Jiejie… showered Amanda with lots of attention.
Something Amanda LOVES right now!!! Lots of play and attention!

Amanda with Auntie SharlotteIMG_7657

And here’s one of Sharon jiejie working out, WITH Amanda! kekeke!

Sharon JieJie working out...

When she isn’t busy oggling at guys (her pastime at our 3.5hour tea!), she was also kept busy with one of her-future-handbags
She must have found the chain to be shiny and yummy… and laid her wet fingers on my bag.
Its soooo not my fault if the bag isn’t going to be in good condition!

IMG_7667

Before high-tea… Amanda and I dropped by at Sharlotte’s place.
It was my first time out alone with Amanda… a short trip on the taxi from home to Sharlotte’s.
Could have done better if I was confident enough to juggle Amanda, diaper bag and the stroller.
Needed Mum to send me off below our block and Sharlotte to pick us up at hers.

Missed Amanda’s 6 mo photoshoot at the studio… so I took one on Sharlotte’s couch!

A good representation of she’s usually up to.
Trying to sit, balance… and putting whatever stuff she can lay her hands on, into her mouth.

Entertaining herself and making funny face infront of the mirror… with Auntie and Jiejie.

Lastly, a picture that says… BRING ME TO TEA (with airconditioner) ALREADY!!! :p

First visit to Auntie Sharlotte's home!

It has been an exciting month since Amanda turned 5 months old.
She grew so much that I sometimes think that I brought a different baby back from China!

She’s is getting closer to sitting unassisted, and I kinda thought that she would be able roll over to her left (instead of her usual right side) or flip from front to back or back to front, by now.
She isn’t as agile as I thought she would be.
But its OK! Less agility. Less worry. For now.

However, what’s exciting this month, is how sociable and playful she has become.

When carrying her, she would sometimes push herself away from me.
So that she could have a good look at me.
Contented, she would grin before burying her face into mine.

She seeks attention from strangers or just about anyone in her sight.
She would initiate an interaction by smiling and squealing, making it difficult for any stranger to ignore.
I would let her sit in her stroller facing outwards during meals.
So that she can play with strangers in her stroller, while Mum and I quickly stuff food into our mouth.

She was also very popular with the middle-aged ‘Aunties’… she totally charmed them while I was busy in the fitting room at the ‘Aunties’ favorite departmental store, OG (Old Girls) in Chinatown, early this week.
She still loves peek-a-boo… and any sort of attention given to her. Sometimes raising an eyebrow work too!

She is sooo playful that she is also waking up in the middle of the night… to play.
Like practising her ‘queen’s wave’ / rotating her wrist, fist clenching, her “ba” and “ber” vowels, or chewing her blankie.
I wouldn’t talk to her in case I excite her and keeps her up for the next hour.
I would also avoid looking at her too. If our eyes meet in the dark, she would break into her biggest grin.
Which is very hard not to reciprocate… and subsequently leading to Play!
Once she woke me up every 2 hours. And the other night, she was up for an hour at 3a.m, to play. :(

Amanda’s eyes brighten up when I greet her in the morning. And gives me a “Hey! Where-have-you-been-I-miss-you!” look, when I am busy and haven’t been around her for awhile.
These totally compensates for the many times she woke me up in the middle of the night… and yeah, maybe for the Cesarean too! (Which I am feeling a funny pull at the wound this morning.)

Motherhood is AWESOME!!!

While Amanda is kinda over stranger anxiety… she has the separation anxiety.
Out of sight is no longer out of mind.
She would also be crying for me in the middle of the night… or in the day when she’s sleepy and I am not around.
She sort of developed it about a week before the nanny left, she would only want me to put her to bed at night.

This might sound funny… but I was flattered by her attention then.
Considering that she is has been under the primary care of the nanny while I carry her only when I nurse her or when the nanny prepared meals.

In fact, the nanny told me one of her client’s 9-yr-old daughter warned her mummy, not to let her baby brother get too attached to the nanny and vice-verse.
In case, her baby brother prefers the nanny over Mummy OR The nanny would snatch and run away with her brother.

I felt ashamed when I shared it with Dp. I had the same mentality of a 9-year-old.
For the first few months after Amanda’s arrival, I was actually worried that Amanda would prefer the nanny over me… and nanny running off with Amanda!
You see, the nanny is very attached to Amanda! She was tearing and hugged Amanda tightly, many times, the day she left.

We have also been going out a lot since CNY in China and Singapore.
She loves going out and makes it known by squealing and blabbering in the car / taxi.

Here’s a video of Amanda squealing at the fishes. Something she do many times a day.

BTW… those wet patches you see on her forehead and chest, are her own saliva.
Many say that she’s teething… But hor, she’s been drooling like an open tap, since she was about 2 months old.
One says the drooling will stop when she’s actually teething…
I say, its pretty pointless to dress Amanda in pretty dresses… they will be covered by a soaking wet bib!

EDIT : Amanda weighs 8.7kg and is 71cm on 9th March.

Been wanting to do this post for more than a year!
I have been doing post & photos of mostly Balenciaga bags.

Just before the nanny left, I had a a chance to go through my wardrobe and taking each bag out of their dust bag…
Enjoying things I love to do pre-pregnancy and pre-baby.

I was then reminded of how much and why I Love Chanel.
The bag and the leather are simply *indescribable
(* and because my vocab shrunk with my Mummy-scattered brain.)

Dust bags and boxes.
Chanel...

Long story short.

Got my first Chanel, bottom right, a black medium caviar classic in Dec ’06.
Second Chanel, top right, baby cabas in July ’07.
Everything else in 2008. A year of mad mad Chanel obsession!

My Most Used Chanel – Jumbo caviar. (middle left) and maybe a tie with WOC (bottom left)
My Most Beautiful Chanel – Dark Silver ’08 Reissue. (middle center)
My Most Adventurous Chanel – Buying a non-black bag,purple East-west.

And here’s My Cutest Chanel – Mini Flap!

IMG_3605
Mini to me. Jumbo on Amanda. :p

Daddy can be heard telling Amanda (very proudly) where Mummy’s precious collection are, when giving a (daily) tour of the walk-in wardrobe!
It makes Daddy very happy whenever I tell Amanda, Its going to be ALL YOURS!!!

However, he got smarter when I tried the same trick in Miu Miu Paragon last week.
He asked me WHEN am I going to give the bags to Amanda… and what if they become mouldy?
I tried to brush it off by saying that the bags won’t be mouldy in dry climate Yuncheng…!
And Amanda will definitely lay her hands on the many Classics… when she’s old enough to understand and appreciate.
Besides I wouldn’t want to spoil her, young.

And here’s something else for Amanda…
I found my long-lost Tiffany bracelet, I thought I lost it for the last 12 months.
Was searching high & low and Ashley conveniently forgot to inform me that she found it in Singapore.
It was a birthday pressie from Dp in 2002. And also my first one from him.
He was still schooling in Manchester then… he ordered it from London and mailed it to Singapore.
Along with the bracelet, they mailed him a catalogue of their engagement rings.
He was exclaiming then that they were expensive!
A very meaningful bracelet. As he no longer goes through the hassle to get me presents! Ha!
These days, I get them myself! :p

Playing with Mummy's bracelet...
Reaching out…

Meanwhile, this is how Amanda will be playing with the bracelet until she’s big and tall enough to wear it.

Ps: Been working on this post for many days. Had to find time to do it during Amanda’s nap!

Thought I better get this done first (before my already very late HK & USA trip entry) in case it gets too late… again!

Every trip home is always filled with food!
There was lots to eat and I piled on to the extra weight gained when I was in USA.

I didn’t think I will ever miss Singapore food, I managed to not miss it when I was in UK, but 4 years in China…
Is taking its toll.
I miss home-cooked the most! And all the boiled soup Mom always make.

Last night, I dreamt that I was Home again…and is leaving Singapore again.
I was happy at the thought of delaying my return to China by asking Dp to leave first.
Then again, I thought it wasn’t a good solution as I couldn’t always delay.

Shortly after, I woke up and wondered Where I was?
Dp’s snoring confirmed… I am in Yuncheng.
In a way I was relieved as I didn’t have to deal with the emotions I get whenever I leave Home.

THERE ARE LOTS OF PHOTOS of Singapore (and FOOD!)…
It took me a really long time to complete this post.
I am sure this post of full grammatical / spelling mistake, but its too long and I am too lazy to go through.
