hong kong

The holiday was great and very stress-free.

Not much travelling and no sight-seeing involved. All we need to do was to think of what to eat and buy!!!

We didn’t get to go Disneyland as planned… the weather was a little wacky with extreme strong winds and its also kinda hot to step out of Harbour City… So we spent 2 days within the radius of 100 meters around the massive Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui.

We caught 2 movies and scared myself silly.
We caught C+侦探 The Detective (Aaron Kwok) and 1408.
Thinking back… the plot isn’t that scary, I am just too timid! =p
And I just found out that the person who claimed to love horror films, shuts his eyes tight at any potentially scary scene.

Since we returned not too long ago from Singapore, we found nothing new in Zara.
We re-discovered a great brand for great basics. CLUB MONACO

WE BOTH got loads of stuff from the store…
Its a little pricey but IMO its great basic with quality. And I love some of the cashmere.
It helps v.little that the very helpful sales person kept bringing undisplayed v.popular stuffs from the back of the store.
They are kept at the back of the store as these popular items are low in stock and some last pieces.
I LOVE every single piece I’ve got…as its mostly black, grey or white.

And if you haven’t already heard… I am currently obsessed with BLACK.
Very flattering to bulging fats and easily Chic. They work well for my fairly fair skin color too.
When I declared that I NEED MORE BLACKs in WARDROBE!!!…Dp agreed immediately as if its something he’s been trying to tell me for ages…
He rarely respond to me under 30 secs…or w/o me repeating at least 2 times.

After stocking up with some beauty products and magazines (my favourite gossip mag) we needed a new cabin luggage for the shopping.
I was skeptical about TUMI coz I could have bought a couple of Samsonites with that price.
But Dp insisted I should get one to match his beside a Tumi is very strong and lasting.
Their luggages are usually black but I wanted something that stands out from the rest of the Tumi(s) and the luggage conveyor belt.
I then chose their kind of limited edition Chestnut, which was kinda in a gross chocolate shade at first but I am growing to love it.

The new design is curvy yet sleek and expandable.
I was told that this new compact design is very popular with the ladies as one can easily fit a boot in the front pocket…
I withdrew my card from my purse immediately.

Concluded my shopping in HK with a PAIR OF ANKLE BOOTS!!!
To be worn with dresses & leggings
if it isn’t too cold to.

We then headed over to MACAU…

The Venetian’s building and suite are definitely GRAND!!!
As for the malls, its only so-so…as its only 1/3 completed… but its bustling with activities and people.

Here are some pictures (with a very bloated me) taken at the much talked about Venetian…

venetian
Opps… our face are a little distorted…

I think sometime Mid next year would be a good time to visit again… When more stores are open!!!

Dp never quite understand my excitement whenever I go Macau… and esp when I dislike him for playing too long too much at the casinos…

Well, its PARTLY the shopping. Especially the lobby of Wynn… And sometimes the Bets in casinos…

wynn chip

I usually have a lot of time on hand in Macau… I do get bored and plays for FUN!
The games I usually play are: Baccarat / Sic Bo / Carribean Stud Poker

They are all very exciting games and I prefer straight-forwards games with 50-50 winning probabilities.
Buy Big or Small OR Banker or Player… Win or Lose! EASY huh!?

There was this particularly lucky hour on the first day, in the game of Baccarat, I had strong intuition for my bets.
I flipped the cards and got the highest possible score ’9′ 5 times in a row…(even the dealer shook his hand in disbelief) the 6th time I got a ’8′…
From then onwards, I won every bet I placed. Be it ‘Player’ or ‘Banker’…

My luck was unbelivable. But I hid my excitement…concentrating…
Till Chinese guy at the table said, “You have good judgment. many times I have no idea on what to bet on, I followed you and you got it right!”
Then another guy jumped in… “YA! 你帮我们指点 迷瞪!!”
I touched wood (such luck cannot say one!) and shook my head humbly…

The crowd got bigger and people were following my bets.
The pressure’s growing but I was glad that the table had to stop to change a set of new cards.
I started with 600hkd chips and left the table beaming with 3300hkd chips!!!
My bets are usually 100-300… anything more I can’t seem to judge properly.

And back to the shopping…
I remember feeling panicky when leaving HK for Macau… coz I didn’t buy a bag!
One can never have too many shoes or BAGS… Got my shoe but no BAG!?

Will share some of my (rather impulsive) buys…

fendi

The bag is FAB! Versatile. Have been carrying it the last 2 weeks. Love the patent and leather combo!

The sale assistant recommended me silk scarves… I shook my head when I pictured brightly colored floral ones…
Then I saw her bringing me the leopard print…

My scarf

And kudos to Dp for recognizing the brand amongst the busy leopard prints.

GREAT but pretty tiring trip (the late nights in Casinos)!!!
Not sure when we will do this again… but definitely not soon…
Not healthy Physically and Financially!

Hee!!!

I love the wallpaper!!!
Taken in Diesel fitting room in HK.

The traveling to HK was much smoother than we thought.
It would have been better if we caught the plane from YC to Shenzhen, then the Ferry to Kowloon Terminal (walking distance to our preferred hotel)

I can (so) picture myself making solo trips…

-On Hong Kong and Macau

Hong Kong is for shopping and Macau is for gambling.
I think I have better luck in shopping than in gambling.

People say casinos in Macau are very particular about fengshui.
Like how the famous Casino Lisbon is like a cage with many arrows, and the another eygptian themed casino complete with eygptian-looking securities, is like in a pyramid, i.e. tomb, all these prevents people from winning too much or win anything at all, and helps to casinos to, well remain as the BIG winner.

IMHO, I think shopping in DFS Changi Airport is a curse. And shopping in Hk is a bigger curse, esp when u have no more rooms in your luggage.
Changi Airport is a rude reminder telling me each time what I am going to miss when I am back in Yuncheng, therefore making me a little more irrational than what I already am.
I bought 2 bags at the airport in 15 minutes, adding to the other 3 bags I bought earlier during this trip back to South Asia.
I think I have enough gorgeous bags to last me …. for this year!
I prefer my bags with distinct monograms…

Macau is definitely a small place, with a population of over 400k.
Making them kinda overpopulated.
I like their unique, Portugese-influenced architecture, and their pretty-much laid-back lifestyle.

And you would have guess, I have absolutely no luck in gambling.
But its quite eye-opening for me, as it was my first time into a casino, and on gambling.
I tried my luck on the blainless Big-Small, while DP got lucky sometimes, on Blackjack.
I see people placing big bets in thousands of HKD, some might see it in form of chips, while I see them betting in forms of designer bags. My heart aches!

.
-On Geography

Everyone knows that one can walk over to China (Shenzhen) from HK.
But do you know that you can also walk over to China (Zhuhai) from Macau?
If you already knww, its probably just me that I don’t.

We took a 1.5 hour boat ride to Macau from HK.
It was quite a rocky one. But I was too tired to get sick from the bumpiness.
There isn’t much time left for sleeping when there’s so much to shop and eat in HK.
Esp when we only have less than 24 hours in HK.

We returned to Mainland China, by walking through the customs from Macau.
There were a lot of people going through the customs and residents from Macau go to China with just a trolley, probably just to do their morning marketing.
And with my excessive luggage, I thought we looked like refugees.

.
-On Travel Luggages

I once read from a book of the famous hotel hieress, that one should never travel light, having loads of luggages make you appear important.
You should alway pack more than you need or don’t need, filling your luggages to the brim, even though you know you are not going to need them, and will be buying loads of other new stuffs.

I think I miss out the part about having the concierge or someone to carry them for you.
Which pretty much explain why poor DP (and mayb some of the other relatives) has to carry so many bags and how I think I almost dislocate my arm from just pulling an exploding overweight suitcase, from Singapore to HK, Macau and China.

The opposite of looking important and glamorous, is a sweaty, messy refugee.

.
-On returning ‘Home’

My new home, Yuncheng.

You know you live in a fairly ulu-place when it takes you almost 12 hours to return home.
No doubt there is direct flight, but being a fairly ulu-place, they don’t fly here everyday.

So when returning on July 1st, we were up very early, had some horrible meant for Chinese tourists breakfast, got ourselves sorted and headed to the customs by 8 a.m.
We walked acrossed with my heavy luggages, passing customs and checks.

Got onto a bus at Zhuhai, and took us 2.5 hours to Guangzhou airport, a 2.3 hour plane ride to Xi’an and a 3 hour ride back to Yuncheng.
It was time for dinner by the time we returned.

.
-On Post-Holidays

We had many late nights during the trip. Time is spent either on shopping or pushing our luck at casinos.
The trip left many of us drained and tired.
Since Saturday, 8 hours is the average WAKING Hour for DP. And he spends most of his time drooling in his sleep.
Being equally tired and not much of a sleeper, I will be lucky if I have more than 8 hours of sleep a day.
I know I am sleeping too little for someone who have nothing to do.

After being in different countries, cities for the last few days.
Its definitely hotter in Yuncheng.
A big oven, feel suffocated as if with no ventilation.
Its really HOT!!! And I do get some sort of heat rash. Ewww!

I am back on the diet again.
Holidays and Singapore makes me hungry and indulge.
I was feeling quite complacent with the weight I lost before my China wedding, that I decided to take it easy.
And I was panicking the day, when I realised both my wedding and evening gowns were tight on my Sg wedding.
Esp living in Yuncheng, you have to be extremely careful, as there isnt much to do to work those fats.
Over here, You live to eat!
Therefore, I must be in control before I become hopelessly chubby.

We are now planning for our next holiday, next week.
Destination Sanya. Most southern tip of China and Hainan Island, Hawaii of the East.
We hope to see more places in China, before we eventually settle for work!
And I will still be offended if ppl think that its our honeymoon…

As usual, I will be posting my photo from this trip later.
