When its for own consumption…

CIMG1774

When I was living in Beijing, my fiber intake definitely did not meet the daily required.
Unlike living at home in Sg, family would always insist in cut fruit after every meal.

If you remember, I used to live above a supermarket in Sunshine 100.
It was relatively convenient and I should able to have enough fiber.
But I didn’t.

Because somehow, Dp didn’t quite believe in buying fruits…or rather paying for fruits. He thinks its ridiculous!
Its quite unlikely that me choosing the most expensive and best apples available in the supermarket, made him think that way.
He rather have someone from YC, who is dropping by in Beijing, to air freight a box of apple.
And when Dp and Dn flew in from YC to meet my family in Beijing during CNY 2004, he said that he forgot to bring a box of apples along!
I went, Lucky you forgot!…we too can buy apples in Singapore. Its too silly to bring a box of apple back to Sg.
D-uh!

It then took me years to realise WHY!!!

geographically challenged?

in Her Life

For some reason, I don’t remember learning about the world map during school.
In fact, I don’t even remember what I learnt in school!

OPPS!!!

I wish I remember what I learnt from school, in a way, I think it will make my life a little better.
And of coz, I will also become Smarter!

For the last few years, I have taken a liking to staring at maps!
Not that I am trying to memorise, but I hope that by staring at maps, long and hard enough, I will eventually have a “photographic memory” of the world map.
So that I can be like Dp and have the world map, at the back of my head.

Staring at the maps, somehow makes the world seem smaller!
Especially places that you have heard but do not know where, is actually a neighbour of some other countries…
and then, you start linking them up, one by one.
Like how Kyrgyzstan is north of Tajikistan, Tajikistan is southeast of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan is south of Kazakhstan…
you know…

Since I said that I am going to talk more about Yuncheng, I think I will start with its location.

When I first moved to China, I can easily tell anyone, I am living in Beijing.
Everybody knows Beijing, the capital of China, where the olympic will be held in 2008.
And when I start travelling around other parts of China, it starts to get complicated!

Guess this simple map of China may help to simplify things…

I am now totally drained from a unusual activity-packed weekend…
The term, Weekend was re-introduced into OUR life, 2 weeks ago…

We probably have more activites in the last weekend, than one month in Yuncheng.
A big big pimple on my forehead, tells me I had too much FUN over the weekend.

From this post, you get a rough idea about Yuncheng…
And there will be more about Yuncheng and my life in Yuncheng, this week.
I hope!

itchy feet

in Her Life

Update: Hmmmph! Dp been told by the GM of his factory to visit mines and purchase coal with him, in freakin’ Inner Mongolia. That just killed whatever excitement I have for the Golden Week! I m very angry with the GM! X(

The October First Golden Week is approaching!

I am so looking forward…and hoping that Dp’s dad might want to get out of YC, so that Dp and I can tag along.

I was almost jumping with joy, when Dp returned home with Dp’s dad’s driver/secetary, looking for Dp’s dad Hukou booklet,
this booklet is like an ID, stating which province/city/county that a chinese person belong, not much use, unless u are in bigger cities like Beijing or Shanghai, cheaper housing and your kids can enroll better schools / university.
Dp has a Beijing Hukou…giving in to my constant nagging…
Its not easy to get a Beijing Hukou, but it is easier for someone returning from overseas studies…

Anyway, I asked Dp about why his dad wants his hukou booklet, at 10p.m,
Dp smiled and said… He wants to apply for HK biz visa.
I could feel my face lighten up, though I know, Macau is where they want to go eventually…
but being someones who loves to shop, I know his dad won’t miss shopping in HK, even if its for 1 day.
I then, asked Dp apply for one too…

bloat bloat bloat

September 20, 2006

in Her Life

Since returning from Europe, I have been disgustingly bloated.
I have a very bloated,rounded tummy…
Its not my lame excuse for being fat, but I have been fat long enough to tell if its a bloat or fats.
And its not PMS.
But I don’t deny eating a little more of what I shouldnt eat.

I have been told by friend that someone elder confidently said I am pregnant,
he was so confident, that he used the word 打赌.
Its a big, big blow for anyone, ESP when you are NOT PREGNANT!

Immature, I know.
I was angry for awhile, and thought that I should act like I have early symptoms or rub my tummy… so that he will place more bets and eventually lose his huge fortune. HAHA!
Guess I shouldnt blame him. Its a sentitive period since its 3-4 months after our wedding.
And I am really that bloated!

smoke-free

September 19, 2006

in Her Life

During our trip in Munich, Dp and I kind of surprised by the number of people that smokes in Germany.
And every corner you turn to, you see people smoking, everywhere, anywhere and even in enclosed area… like subway stations (not the platform), and indoor restaurant (tot its only allowed in China).
But of course, you don’t see cigaratte butts everywhere.
We can’t forget how we were almost ‘smoked’ in the train on our way to Hamburg from Munich.
Dp, being a smoker, too think that there is too much smoke in 1 smoking cabin.

And with some bars in Sg going smoke-free, I remembered seeing a smoke-free ad a Norway Mag.

    smoked salmon

“The only thing we smoke here is salmon.”
